Why miui 8 does not come. Proper notification settings for MIUI

No matter how perfect the MIUI shell may seem, it contains some pitfalls. One of these pitfalls is notifications on Xiaomi.

How to set up notifications on Xiaomi

These settings are suitable for users who do not receive notifications on Xiaomi and who want to optimize battery consumption.

The first thing to do is highlight the applications that you use most often. Most likely, it will be social networks, messengers. Next, we will optimize the shell settings.

energy saving

The activity of applications in the background depends on the power saving mode on the Xiaomi smartphone, if activity in the background is disabled, accordingly, notifications will not be received.

We go to "Settings" - "Battery and performance" - "Battery consumption by applications", this menu provides three modes of operation of the Xiaomi smartphone:

  • Disabled - your smartphone does not restrict background activity;
  • Enable (may also be called "Standard") - MIUI limits background activity, within the limits of what is permitted;
  • Maximum (or "Increased") - limits background activity almost completely, this mode automatically turns on a charge of less than 20%.

We will customize everything for ourselves, so we will focus on the "Maximum" mode.

At this stage, you can also click "Select Applications" and customize individual applications, system or installed.

Thus, we highlight applications that are important to us, those applications that you almost never use can be limited to the maximum.

Notifications and status bar

The most important step in the setup, here we will indicate which applications will display notifications, and which should not.

We open "Settings""Notifications and status bar""App Notifications".

If you pay attention, in the screenshot above, some of those applications that cannot show notifications are indicated.

Let's analyze the Xiaomi notification setting using the well-known Vkontakte application as an example.

  • "Show notifications" - must be enabled, without it, the rest of the items will not be active;
  • "Priority" - always display at the top of the list;
  • "Application icon" - displays the application icon in the status bar, useful for remembering to answer;
  • "Pop-up notifications" - when you are in another application, a message or notification pops up at the top;
  • "Lock screen notification" - the event will be displayed on the lock screen, it can be viewed, this function can be disabled and then no one will see your messages without a password;
  • Sound, vibration, light signal - I think they do not need an explanation.

Thus, we set up all the applications that we selected at the beginning. After setting up, if the application works stably, then there should be no problems with notifications on Xiaomi.

Pinning apps in memory on Xiaomi

The last item in setting up Xiaomi notifications is pinning applications to the device's RAM memory. We recommend pinning only the most important applications.

We click on the touch task button, it is on the left and drag down the applications that you want to fix, click on "Lock", there may be different options.

I will show you how to solve the problem on MiUI when notifications from WhatsApp, Viber, VKontakte and other instant messengers do not arrive on Xiaomi smartphones.

MiUi may limit background processes by default and therefore you may sometimes not receive notifications.

Method 1: Disable Background App Activity Restriction

First, let's go to Settings - Battery and performance.

And click on "Disabled" and MiUI will not limit the background activity of applications. And all push notifications will come even when the screen is locked.

Or turn it on so that unnecessary applications do not eat your battery on your smartphone, then click on "Select applications".

Select the application for which you do not receive notifications. In this case, it's WhatsApp.

And click on the "No restrictions" item so that MiUI does not limit the WhatsApp application and receive notifications on it. And all other applications were under control and limited their background activity.

If it does not help, then add the second method.

Method 2. Enable application autorun

Go to Settings - Permissions.

And turn on the autorun of the desired application. In this case whatsapp. In this way, the WhatsApp application will automatically start and the push notification service will work.

If it does not help, then add the third method.

Method 3. Allow display on the lock screen

Go to Settings - Permissions - Other permissions.

Click on the desired application.

And we allow you to display notifications on the lock screen and run in the background.

If it does not help, then add the fourth method.

Method 4. We allow you to change the state of Wi-Fi

Go to Settings - Permissions - Other permissions - Permissions - Change Wi-Fi status.

MIUI is becoming more and more popular thanks to its rich customization options and a wide range of settings. The system itself is the result of a deep optimization of the Android OS.

Due to the fact that MIUI tries to save battery life and restricts the operation of some applications, small problems often occur. For example, you may not receive notifications from Vkontakte or WhatsAPP applications.

Let's figure out how to fix this error and set up MIUI notifications.

Applications running in the background

Apps that you frequently use should be running in the background. To do this, we follow the path Settings > Additionally > Battery and performance.

There is an item "Background Mode" (for MIUI 7), where you need to select the level of restriction - set the standard one. For MIUI 8, the menu is called "Battery consumption by applications."

Further, all in the same section Battery go to Applications. Choose the ones you need and set the value - "No restrictions". Here you can also limit the work of those programs that are not needed and waste battery power.

Autorun settings

For correct operation, it is also necessary to configure autorun.

To do this, you need to take a few simple steps:

  1. We go to the application Security.
  2. Further Permissions
  3. Here we need only the 1st point - autorun
  4. We mark all the necessary applications (the same Vkontakte and WhatsAPP).

That's all! As you can see, there is nothing complicated, and as a result of these manipulations, notifications in MIUI will work fine.

MIUI 8 has a ton of new features, including a power-saving mode that automatically extends battery life by killing background processes, throttling system performance, and limiting apps that drain your battery.

However, one of the most common bugs in the latest version of the MIUI operating system remains the notifications not working correctly, which behave very strangely on several smartphones from Xiaomi.

In case of MIUI 8, the problem lies in the OS itself - it kills background applications and sync services when the phone is idle. To receive notifications, you must prioritize them and enable autoplay for individual applications.

The problem is not so serious, but if you are not receiving notifications on your Xiaomi smartphone, there are several ways to fix it. Read on for how enable notifications in MIUI 8.

Notification Priority

  • Open "Settings" on the home screen.
  • Switch to "Notifications and status bar".
  • Select "App Notifications".
  • Select the apps you want to prioritize notifications for.
  • Make sure that pop-up notifications, lock screen notifications And app icon notifications included.
  • Switch priorities.

App prioritization should solve notification issues. If after that you still don't see notifications for incoming messages, you need to enable autoplay.

Enable autoplay

  1. Open "Settings" on the home screen.
  2. Go to "Permissions".
  3. Click "Autostart".
  4. Select the apps you want to turn on automatically.

Enabling auto-start ensures that applications do not depend on the battery management system. If a specific application is not listed, try disabling the power saving mode.

Disable power saving mode

  1. Open "Settings" on the home screen.
  2. Select "Battery and Performance".
  3. Click "Manage app battery usage".
  4. In power saving modes, select "Off".

Disabling power saving mode allows applications to continue running in the background without restriction. This does not affect battery life in most smartphones. If none of the above methods worked, try again install MIUI 8 firmware.

MIUI is famous for its truly wide possibilities in customization and settings. This is because a lot of work has been done in it to optimize the operation of the Android OS and save battery. Much has been done to improve battery life. First of all, this is due to the frequency and method of accessing the application to the processor and data networks. MIUI limits the background activity of applications, which saves time for the phone and saves battery percentages that are never superfluous. Even if you have Redmi 3 .

However, this approach can sometimes confuse the user somewhat and deny access to applications that need to work in the background. In such cases, we receive questions about the fact that notifications from Whatsapp, VK and other applications do not come. Let's allow the apps we need all the time to run in the background. Screenshots will be presented from MIUI 8, but in MIUI 7 the settings we are interested in are arranged in exactly the same way.

Setting up autorun

The first step is to set up autorun applications. Some applications may not work correctly in the background without autorun. We will not find out why this is happening here, we will leave it at the mercy of OS and application developers.

  1. Open the app Security.
  2. Go to section Permissions.
  3. Open the first item autorun.
  4. Check the boxes for the apps you want.

Often you need to mark social networks and messengers, since most users spend more time in them and suffer the most inconvenience due to the lack of notifications from social networks and messengers. You can add a calendar, and mail, and, for example, some fitness apps a la Google Fit.

Setting up the background

Next, set up the background mode so that the necessary applications can run in the background. MIUI can recognize applications with special types of background activity (messengers, navigators, players) and apply a power saving mode without harming important processes.

  1. We go to Settings.
  2. We open the item Battery and Performance.
  3. Go to Application battery consumption(on MIUI 8) or in Background mode(on MIUI 7).

Here we see three options: allow MIUI restrict background activity for all apps at once when possible, or ban MIUI restrict background activity of all apps. However, it is better to configure each application individually so that unnecessary applications do not just waste their battery, for some reason working in the background. If you won't be configuring each app individually, you can just leave the overall selection at Turn on and further customize applications. You can choose and Disable, but then all applications that you have not configured individually will not be limited in background activity, which can speed up battery drain.

Well then. With a general background activity control setup we've decided, now let's set up the apps.

  1. Repeat the previous paragraph 3 → Go to Application battery consumption(or Background mode).
  2. Open the topmost item with a choice of applications.
  3. Choose No limits.
  4. You can allow or deny access to the location as you wish, depending on the application.

P.S.

We've set everything up, now applications take the right place in the background and are included in autorun. Notifications should come. However, don't forget to give the apps the right permissions (how to do this) so that they work correctly on their own. So that there are no cases when, for example, Viber does not see contacts, but in fact the user has blocked access to contacts. Viber himself would be happy to show contacts, but he was forbidden. Such cases sometimes affect notifications as well.
