1. We measure the figure

Shoulders: Measure from the tip of one shoulder to the other

Breast: Wrap the tape over the high points of the chest and around the back. At the same time, do not allow squeezing, do not press the tape too tightly.

Waist: Measure the narrowest point above the navel.

Buttocks: Start measuring from one thigh (from the bone) and wrap the tape around the most prominent part of your buttocks.

2. Find your body type

First step: measure your parameters

Shoulder width

Ask someone to help you measure your shoulders, as it is impossible to take such a measurement yourself. Width is measured horizontally by connecting the protruding extreme points on both shoulders. The tape should fit snugly against the body, but not be stretched.

Waist circumference

Measure around your waist at its narrowest point just above your belly button. The measuring tape should be tightly wrapped around the waist.

Stretch the measuring tape in a taut state along the most protruding points of the chest and around the back. Don't pull too hard on the band to avoid squeezing your breasts.

Second step: determine the type of figure

Now that you've taken your measurements, you can use these numbers to determine your body type. You will notice that in the equations below, bust and shoulder width will sometimes need to be interchanged. This has to be done by those who have a particularly large or small bust, as well as those who have disproportionately narrow or wide shoulders.

A situation may arise when a figure will belong to two different categories. This occurs when there is a significant difference between shoulder width and chest circumference. For example, when using the “bust circumference” parameter, you may turn out to be a “pear”, and if you take into account the width of the shoulders, then the figure will be of the hourglass type. If this situation occurs, you will have to consider both options when shopping. During the fitting, you yourself will understand which clothes will look best on you.

Basic body types

Now consider the four main types of figure. From the description, try to determine which category your body belongs to, and then test your assumptions using the Bayou equations.

The “inverted triangle” figure is characterized by wide shoulders in comparison with the hips or a puffy chest and narrow hips.

Rectangle

Your shoulders, bust and hips are about the same size. There is no clearly defined waist.

What will the numbers say? Your figure is a "rectangle" if your waist is less than 25% less than shoulder width or bust.

Formula: waist circumference/(shoulder width or chest circumference) ≥ 0.75.

In this case, the difference between the parameters of the shoulders, chest and hips should be within 5% of each other. Take the largest number (as a rule, this is the width of the shoulders), let this figure be conditionally called x, the other two numbers are y and z. Multiply x by 0.95. If y and z are greater than the resulting figure, then your parameters are within 5% of each other.

For example, you are a "rectangle" if your shoulder width is 91.5 cm and your waist circumference is 68 cm or more.

Triangle (pear)

This type is characterized by wide hips in comparison with the shoulders and a well-defined waist.

Today, many special tests have appeared on the global network that allow you to calculate your type of figure. It can be done. But the most reliable way is to stand in your underwear in front of a full-length mirror, carefully examine yourself, and then measure with a centimeter tape:
- shoulder width;
- chest volume;
- waist width;
- Waist;
- width of the hips;
- the volume of the hips.

The bust, waist and hips should be measured with the tape wrapped around the body. After that, you need to judge your type of figure based on the measurements taken. So, the question of how you can determine the type of figure is half solved.

How to find out your body type?

The standard classification includes the following types of female figure:
- an apple, or a rectangle;
- pear;
- triangle;
- hourglass.

The most common type of figure is an "apple", in 2nd place - a pear, in 3rd - a triangle, and only in 4th place - the same "hourglass".

An Apple. In this type of figure, the width of the hips and shoulders is the same, but the waist never stands out brightly, even if the woman is thin. As a rule, the legs of these girls are slender, the buttocks are not very rounded, and the hips are straight. Owners of the "apple" type of figure get better in the chest, back, abdomen, while they gain weight mainly in front. Pear. Triangle. In this type of physique, the width of the hips is less than the width of the shoulders, the line of the hips and waist narrows, the legs in the area below the knees are thin, and the pelvis is rather narrow. Hourglass.
